Lunch with Leaders - Kayla Hickel
Kayla was born and raised in Hays, Kansas and attended Fort Hays State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies (Public Relations). Upon completion of her bachelo&squo;s degree, Kayla joined the FHSU Admissions staff as an admissions counselor. After two years of selling FHSU to prospective students, Kayla moved to Kansas City to embark on a new adventure as a consultant for Cerner Corporation where she traveled the country to work with health care administrators implementing the Cerner electronic medical record. Her passion for consulting piqued her curiosity for business-to-business sales. Kayla then landed a job as an outside sales executive for Paycom. Her hard work and dedication to Paycom resulted in a promotion to executive sales representative. Although her sales career was taking off, after marrying her husband and becoming pregnant, Kayla decided moving back to Hays closer to family would be the best move for her and her growing family. Kayla was fortunate enough to obtain a position back at FHSU where she calls home. Today Kayla is the director of FHSU Online & Military-Connected Student Services. Sh&squo;s happily married to her husband of seven years whom she stays very busy with raising their two toddlers.
