Workforce
The Ellis County Workforce Committee was established in March 2025 by The Chamber in Hays, Kansas and is facilitated by President/CEO Sarah Wasinger. Meetings occur the final Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. in the Welcome Center conference room located at 2700 Vine St. All businesses and non-profit organizations are invited to attend and participate in the meetings.
Its Mission: Develop, grow, and recruit a skilled and adaptive workforce
The Vision: Ellis County will be a thriving center for sustainable, economic growth driven by readily available skilled and engaged workforce where individuals are excited to live, learn, and build their careers.
Goals:
- Develop a collaborative system that promotes local students staying in Ellis County post-graduation
- Connect workforce resources to local employers
- Work with local entities to address housing needs for current and future workforce
- Provide local, state, and federal pro-business policy advocacy
