Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Experience preferred.
- Serve as a role model for high school students.
- Communicate with students, staff, and public in a helpful, positive, and patient manner.
- Knowledge of computer usage and software.
- Ability to learn computer software with ease.
- Accurate in working with all data, including numbers.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job.
- Organized, self-directed worker, cooperative, dependable, exemplary attendance at work.
- Courteous, helpful, and willing to be flexible in job duties.
- Ability to adjust and adapt to new situations.
- Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with staff and community.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist teachers, administrators, support staff, students, and visitors.
- Answer phones, distribute messages to students and teachers, and greet the public.
- Manage facility use calendar and requests
- Maintain and update Hays High calendar on district web calendar
- Responsible for all announcements and bulletins.
- Prepare weekly “Hays High Happenings”
- Send Parent emails and calls
- Work with student aides.
- Visitor Check in system (School Gate Guardian)
- Receive and distribute postal and inter-school mail.
- Enter attendance into PowerSchool.
- Send transcripts upon request.
- Copier usage reports and copier assistance to staff
- Other duties as assigned.
Marginal Job Functions:
- Cross-train with other high school clerical staff.
- Send Driver Ed communications
- Filing as necessary
- Create Locker List
- Create/post/update forms in Big Chief
- Assist registrar with billings/mailings
Physical Requirements:
- Secretarial staff should be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
- Must be able to have lengthy computer posture and sit at a workstation most of an eight hour workday.
- Must have manual dexterity for consistent and accurate computer input.
- Must be capable of dealing with a consistent high level of activity with numerous interruptions.
Other:
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
- The employee shall not smoke on school grounds or in district vehicles at any time.
- The employee shall serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
Term of Employment:
- At will.
- Regular attendance is required of all employees subject to allowed leave in accordance with district policy.
- Selected candidate must pass background check.
- Selected candidate must provide health and inoculation certificate.
Evaluation:
- Performance effectiveness evaluated in accordance with provisions of Kansas Statutes and USD 489 Board of Education policy.
- Evaluation will be the responsibility of the supervisor.
