ESCROW PROGRAM
Rules & Regulations
1) Taxpayer’s taxes must be current with no delinquencies. The Escrow program cannot be initiated for delinquent taxes. Taxpayer must fill out and sign the agreement paperwork (either in person or through the mail).
2) A onetime startup fee for the escrow program is $35.00, which is to be paid in full with the signed agreement.
3) Ellis County will process an Automatic Withdrawal/ACH for payment. Automatic withdrawals are done on the 5th or 20th of each month. We require a minimum withdrawal amount of $25.00 to be part of the program. A $30.00 fee will be charged for any Personal Check or ACH withdrawal that is returned for any reason.
4) Name on agreement and signature should be the same. Any money in the Escrow account can be accessed or withdrawn at any time at the taxpayer’s discretion. In the event of a refund, a check will be issued to the name on the account.
5) With the assistance of the Ellis County Treasury staff, we will provide an estimate of your monthly payment. The estimate will be based on the most current tax year or motor vehicle renewal period. Taxpayers may enter the Escrow program for their dwelling/home, all personal property, oil, 16/20M trucks, and motor vehicle transactions.
6) Reminders will be mailed to taxpayers using the Escrow program regarding any shortage of money before property tax deadline. If the account will be short, it is the taxpayer’s responsibility to pay in the additional money needed on or before the tax deadline. Taxes will not be paid until there are sufficient funds in the account. If the taxes are not paid by the deadline, because of a shortage in funds, your participation in the program will be discontinued immediately.
7) Once terminated from the Escrow program for any reason, it will be at the Ellis County Treasurer’s discretion if you will be eligible to participate in the future.
8) It will be the responsibility of the taxpayer to manage the funding in the Escrow account. The County does not have the authorization to change withdrawal amounts from the account without the taxpayer’s consent.
9) DISCLAIMER: THE COUNTY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ACCEPT OR REJECT ANY INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION OR TO TERMINATE ANY AGREEMENTS CURRENTLY IN PLACE. THE COUNTY TREASURER AND ELLIS COUNTY SHALL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR MONETARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES FOR REJECTING OR TERMINATING AN APPLICATION.
