Financial Aid Advisor (Loans)

Job Description: 

This position is under the general supervision of the Director of Financial Assistance and is generally responsible for the management and supervision of student loan processing.  Knowledge and experience administering all types of student financial aid programs including federal, state, institutional, and FHSU Foundation funds is essential. A successful candidate should have the ability to work in a fast paced and high activity environment. In addition, a successful candidate will be self-motivated.   Duties/Responsibilities: Administer the universitsquo;s student loan program, including balancing Direct Loan programs of all types. Assist with enrollment reporting to the National Student Clearinghouse. Supervise and participate in Financial Aid Management software management, data entry, word processing, and file management in a PC environment. Supervise student staff, providing direction on a daily basis. Review, refine, develop, and implement financial aid policies and procedures necessary to administer financial assistance and scholarships. Counsel students and families regarding financial assistance programs. Make presentations during recruiting and public education activities throughout the year. Attend events to promote financial aid, including some evenings and weekends. Take responsibility for a specific portion of students receiving financial assistance, including professional judgements. Consult with the Director and carry out duties as assigned.   Reports To:  Director of Financial Assistance   Minimum Qualifications: Bachelosquo;s Degree   Preferred Qualifications: Mastesquo;s Degree Detail-oriented and accurate with the ability to work within a highly technical PC computing environment. Experience working in a team-oriented setting.
